Filgo and Hydrolux join forces to decarbonize heavy transport in Québec
MONTRÉAL, April 17, 2025 – Filgo, a Québec leader in energy transportation and distribution since 1956 and a key player in the energy transition, and Hydrolux, a pioneering company developing green hydrogen service stations for heavy transport, announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding formalizing a strategic collaboration focused on transport decarbonization and regional economic development.
This agreement opens the way to a collaboration that can support existing and future projects between the two organizations. By joining forces and building on their complementary expertise, they will combine Hydrolux’s green hydrogen solutions with Filgo’s transport electrification and clean, sustainable energy solutions. The organizations are considering the development of an integrated, scalable network capable of responding directly to the operational needs of heavy transport in Québec.
“This collaboration represents a decisive step in our mission to build robust and well-distributed green hydrogen refuelling infrastructure across the province. Filgo is a strategic collaborator rooted in Québec’s regions, and we share a clear vision: a decarbonized and prosperous energy future.”
Friedrich Dehem‑Lemelin, President and CEO of Hydrolux
“This agreement with Hydrolux demonstrates Filgo’s active role in the energy transition while showcasing Québec expertise and talent. By drawing on the complementary nature of our services, we want to build a coherent and sustainable ecosystem to support carriers as they transition toward decarbonization solutions. This approach is directly aligned with the objectives of the 2030 Plan for a Green Economy, which aims to reduce GHG emissions from the heavy-transport sector.”
Wassim Kanso, Senior Director, Energy Transition at Filgo
Future heavy-transport stations that could result from opportunities for collaboration between Filgo and Hydrolux would, where relevant, integrate a diverse range of energy offerings. These could include, without limitation, advanced electric-charging technologies, green hydrogen and bioenergy. Essential related services, such as Filgo convenience stores, driver amenities and various support facilities, could also be integrated.
This approach is intended to provide carriers with a complete, efficient environment centred on their operations, enabling them to pursue their mission: delivering the energy and goods essential to Québec’s economy responsibly and sustainably.
“Decarbonizing heavy transport is essential if Québec is to achieve carbon neutrality. Hydrogène Québec welcomes initiatives aimed at freeing this sector from fossil fuels by using the best mobility technologies, notably decarbonized hydrogen and bioenergy for long-distance transportation. Since building a refuelling network to serve decarbonized fleets is a major challenge, it is encouraging to see our members tackling it by working together!”
Steven Blaney, President and CEO of Hydrogène Québec
“This Québec partnership between Filgo and Hydrolux embodies innovation in support of the energy transition. It directly addresses the need for charging and refuelling infrastructure and charts a path toward a more robust ecosystem for zero-emission heavy transport.”
Michelle LLambías Meunier, President and CEO of Propulsion Québec
